Our physicians at Napa Valley Plastic Surgery recognize there are many ways to keep your skin looking it’s best. Injectable treatments and skin resurfacing can serve as an adjunct or even an alternative to surgical facial rejuvenation. Below we explain different non-surgical treatments available to our patients. Unlike many practices, Dr. McClure performs all treatments since he feels optimal results are best achieved when the procedures are done by the physician.

JUVÉDERM® XC is a family of smooth gel fillers used to instantly smooth away wrinkles around the mouth and nose. With just one treatment, you’ll get smooth and natural-looking results that last up to a year.
Young, healthy-looking skin contains an abundance of a naturally hydrating substance called hyaluronic acid (HA). But as you age, sunlight and other factors can reduce the amount of HA in your skin. This lack of HA causes your skin to lose structure and volume, creating unwanted facial wrinkles and folds – like those parentheses lines around your nose and mouth.
JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC is a newer product used to lift and contour the cheeks. The effect can last up to two years.
JUVÉDERM VOLLURE® XC is the newest addition to the JUVÉDERM collection of fillers. It can soften moderate to severe facial lines and wrinkles to create a smoother appearance.
JUVÉDERM® Ulta XC can be used for lip enhancement.
JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC, also a new product, is used to add subtle volume to the lips and soften the appearance of vertical lip lines.
Using a dermal filler like JUVÉDERM® XC is a safe and effective way to replace the HA your skin has lost, bringing back its volume, and smoothing away facial wrinkles and folds. Injecting JUVÉDERM® XC is an office procedure taking less than 15 minutes.
Unlike many offices, Dr. McClure performs the injections himself since he feels this is the best way to optimize the results.

After its introduction in 2002, more than 15 million women and men have experienced the facial rejuvenating effects of BOTOX® Cosmetic. Safe, effective and predictable, the BOTOX® Cosmetic injections can smooth out facial wrinkles; most noticeably the frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines.
BOTOX® Cosmetic works by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles. This reduces the muscle activity that causes the persistent lines to form between the brows. The effect can last up to five months. Many patients chose to obtain a permanent result by undergoing the very common brow lift procedure.
Injecting BOTOX® Cosmetic is an office procedure taking less than 15 minutes with no down time after treatment. Unlike other medical spas, our physicians perform the injections themselves since they feel this is the best way to optimize the results.

CHEMICAL PEELS (TCA)
In addition to the normal aging process, the effects of sun exposure and environmental damage take their toll on our skin, causing it to wrinkle, develop “age” spots and look fatigued. The TCA peel (trichloroacetic acid) is a physician administered deep resurfacing procedure that can be very effective for:
- uneven pigmentation
- sun damage
- superficial acne scars
A physician administered chemical peel, (TCA peel,) is a much more aggressive peel than the exfoliative type peels done by non-physicians. It is not as invasive as laser resurfacing so the recovery time is significantly less. It is often done in conjunction with facial rejuvenation surgery, but also can be performed in the medical spa setting under mild oral sedation. The TCA peel is safe and very well tolerated. There is a fairly pain free recovery period of five to seven days during which time the outer layer of facial skin peels away. Sun protection during the healing phase is very important.
